A CUNNING USE OF SCRAPS

ScrapHappy December 2025

by Jan

It's very easy to get distracted by all the scraps in the shop, but I do have lots at home too and this month I thought I'd show off a creation make using some left-over yarn that I've had lurking in a drawer for about eight years. It's a recycled cotton yarn that I bought to make dishcloths, but it also ended up in various projects including hats (sold long ago when I was still making to sell).

I want some new covers for the bollards outside the shop and so I thought I'd take a look at the patterns that I bought in a bundle ages ago from Little Green Bear. We've already made several of Kelly's dinosaurs, a Welsh dragon, a shark and an orca, but I discovered a fox pattern that had been overlooked. Rooting around for some fox-coloured yarn, I came across the afore-mentioned cotton, which turned out to be ideal. I'd got cream and brown scraps of dk cotton yarn too so... tahdah!

Currently, I haven't managed to actually make a bollard cover to attach him to, but in the new year I'll get him sorted out and on public display outside the shop.
